This dash VIN photo is courtesy of Chris
at the 1969 Dodge Charger Registry, check out the big gap
between the first and second letters.
These next two are from D. Hammer. Check
out this broadcast sheet, look at the Qs, Ts, Es, Y and
W used here and there where there should be numbers. All
four letters are in the line below the numbers on a standard
keyboard, but this many errors on a broadcast sheet is quite
exceptional.
Now check out this fender tag, it is coded
V02 for two tone paint, the odd thing is that the paint
codes for the body and roof of the car both read F8! Two
tone cars of this vintage used the same molding as vinyl
top cars to cover the masked paint line. Is this a typo
or did some one go to a lot of trouble to get the molding
that would have covered the paint line? Very odd, one way
or the other.
Here is another one that shows a typo in
the body numbers, the fender tag, dash VIN and broadcast
sheet all match, but the 4 & the 3 are transposed in the
body numbers.
Here is a cool error, note that this broadcast
sheet is for a 1974 Challenger with a 318. Now look at the
bottom of the sheet, it has the top two lines printed for
a 1974 Duster with a 225 /6. Image submitted by Barnabas.
Note the JT in the VIN. The H and the T are
right next to each other diagonally on a key board.
Here is another cool one, 1970 LA built cars
coded the vinyl top twice, look at the V1 code on the third
line up. Whoever stamped this one missed the "X" and it
threw the spacing off for the rest of that line.
